Every IPL franchise has a home ground, and each one has its own character. Some favour batters, some turn square for the spinners, and a few are simply enormous. Here are six grounds with a special place in IPL history, plus the current home of every team.

Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad

Built on the site of the old Motera ground, the Narendra Modi Stadium is the largest cricket stadium in the world. It is home to Gujarat Titans and has become the IPL's big-occasion venue, hosting the finals in 2022, 2023 and 2025.

Eden Gardens, Kolkata

One of the most famous grounds in world cricket, Eden Gardens has been used since the 1860s. It is home to Kolkata Knight Riders, and its crowd is among the loudest in the league. It hosted the 2013 and 2015 finals, both won by Mumbai.

Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

Mumbai Indians' home is compact and close to the sea, and the ball often swings under the lights. The Wankhede hosted the 2011 World Cup final, and in 2018 it staged the IPL final, won by Chennai.

M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru

Short boundaries and a quick outfield make the Chinnaswamy a batter's paradise. It is home to Royal Challengers Bengaluru and hosted the first IPL match in 2008. In 2024 it saw the highest total in IPL history, Sunrisers Hyderabad's 287 for 3.

Green Park, Kanpur

One of India's oldest Test grounds, Green Park hosted Gujarat Lions games during their two seasons in the IPL, 2016 and 2017, while Chennai and Rajasthan were suspended.

Odisha's main ground has staged IPL matches as a neutral or second home venue, including Deccan Chargers against Pune Warriors in 2012.
